BRAID : TAMAR DE KEMP & HUUB LAURENS : 2006

Tamar de Kemp is an artist/photographer concentrating on portraits in black and white printed on barite paper. Her portraits - for instance children's - have a stilled meditative character. Huub Laurens is an artist working with video, often in relation to theatre, for instance in the productions of Onafhankelijk Toneel. His projections are often used in a more architectonic than narrative way.
The personal qualities of both artists merge beautifully in their co-productions.
In Braid we watch the meditative activity of a woman combing and plaiting her hair: black and white, a stilled theatricality.
