MARCUS BERGNER AND STUDENTS : EXPERIMENTAL FILM
De Australische kunstenaar Marcus Bergner maakt experimentele
films.
in Praag.
Hana Valentová, Ivars Grävelejs and Arja Hyytiäinen

MARCUS BERGNER AND STUDENTS : EXPERIMENTAL FILM
Australian Artist Marcus Bergner is an experimental filmmaker. In his
films he combines his own film material with found footage. The works
show a deep love for the art of painting: during his stay in Rotterdam
in 2003, Marcus spend many hours in the historical painting departments
of museum Boijmans, Het Rijksmuseum and Het Mauritshuis, next to the
hours he spent in Studio Een and the Filmwerkplaats for his own work.
His 33 minute film 'The Surface' now screening in Sub-urban, is one long
tribute to light, colour and composition. At the same time light and
colour are here about transparency, the essential element for film: at
some moments the celluloid looses all colour/matter, leaving only pure
light projected onto the wall.
In 2004 Marcus Bergner was teaching for a year at the Film academy in
Prague.
Besides his own film we also show works of his students, Hana Valentová,
Ivars Grävelejs and Arja Hyytiäinen |
