VALENTIN STEFANOFF : THE WORLD IS TOO MUCH WITH US II : 2010 : LOOP
The Bulgarian/French artist Valentin Stefanoff makes large video installations in cooperation with his wife Nina Kovacheva. They often work 'in situ' and project their videos in relation to architecture. 'The world is too much with us',is a project by Valentin himself. During his travels he made long panoramic shots of cities and landscapes. The layers of images move in an animation-like way alongside each other in opposite horizontal directions. 'This post-Romantic video focuses on the conspicuous clash and the likely match between the world of man and the world of nature'. This idea is highlighted by an audio-layer that is built up from field recordings accompanied by an artificial sound that gives the film a sort of a heart beat that makes watching it a meditative dreamy experience.
